Total Eclipse Of The Heart's Bonnie Tyler Dies At 75
She had a gravelly voice that was instantly recognizable and she used it to great success on the pop charts. Bonnie Tyler, whose biggest hit, "Total Eclipse Of The Heart" became a massive worldwide smash, has died at 75.
She was hospitalized in May and put into an induced coma after complications from intestinal surgery. She was scheduled to be on tour before her illness and she vowed to her fans she would be back, but sadly, it was a promise she could not keep.
Her biggest hit became a radio perennial, being replayed every time there was an eclipse anywhere in the world and that's likely to continue.
Two of her other big songs, "It's A Heartache" and "Holding Out For A Hero," from the movie Footloose, added to her chart success.
Tyler was 75.

What is wrong with the people producing news? I have heard this Bonnie Tyler obit on station after station, both radio and TV, and of course, they've all used "Total Eclipse of the Heart" as a music bed. But I have yet to hear any of them (at least 5 outlets at last count) actually play Tyler belting out the title lyric.
Instead, we get a bite of "Turn around, Bright Eyes" or "And I need you now tonight," along with other pieces of the classic song - but never the actual title, where she says the words "A total eclipse of the heart."
In one case, an ABC Radio News report used on the radio, they put on some of the more obscure lyrics, but never her belting out the name of her most famous song. Why would they do this? To hear the singing of the name of the actual song lyric is the whole point. But so far, almost no one has thought to do it. And I can't figure out why.
As someone who worked as a producer at CFTR News in their Top 40 days, this would have been a no-brainer to me. And my news director would have killed me if I'd left it out. Apparently, no one seems to realize the most important part of the song - the actual lyrics. Very bizarre.

I don't know. This seems a litle morbid to me.

I agree, but in this day and age anyone can have their funeral covered online, which is also a little morbid! Even if I was a fan, I don’t think I’d watch, not crazy about funerals!
