This Was The Tallest TV Tower In North America

It belonged to perhaps the most unlikely station possible - the otherwise obscure KVLY- TV in a place called Blanchard, North Dakota. If the article linked below is to be believed, it's even taller than the CN Tower's antenna (1,815 feet), once standing at an amazing 2,063 feet above the ground.

It was built in 1963, predating Toronto's most famous symbol by many years. And even with the repack and some trimming to the structure, it currently soars to 1,987 feet. Imagine having to do the maintenance on that thing.

KVLY, by the way, is still around and serves the city of Fargo. It's main channel is an NBC affiliate, while its subcarrier features CBS.
