Toronto Mike is among the first to report that Brent Albrecht, part of the Indie88 morning trio, has been let go. There's no immediate word on what led to his sudden dismissal. Its Morning Show Page has already been adjusted to reflect the change.

Maybe a format change to AC to compeet directly with CHFI and to match the indie fm network?
Maybe he was to indie for the new indie

If it were Jackie gone, I'd say it's because she also does a lot of stand up comedy. She appears to have a good strong plan B in place if she ever leaves radio...
(no rumour intended, she's most likely not going anywhere...just pointing something interesting out)

It isn’t not a modern AC station already.
He had great chemistry with his co-hosts and they fit the format perfectly well.
Everyone knows Lana and Adam and even the new administration’s hire Bob have broader music taste than the main playlist, so the reason isn’t that Brent was “too indie.”

Sorry Jonathan W, but I can’t figure out what you’re trying to say here. Is it just a typo?

Yes, I read that opening sentence several times trying to understand it as well. It being a double negative is the least of its structural problems, I'd think! ![]()

Wordplay. Is Indie 88 a Modern AC station?Yes is an acceptable answer, though it’s not quite the best answer. No is not really true.
Looking at their music this week so far, the weekday morning show is fully Modern AC and by an overwhelmingly margin, familiar high-rotation hits, especially until 10 AM.
The rest of the day still pushes past what I’m comfortable calling Modern AC into Adult Alternative.
Did Indie recently introduce a request lunch or similar? I’m usually a heavy listener but I’ve been sidelined by a project, but I’m surprised by the logs for yesterday noonhour. The hour included the rare Kate Nash, Foundations (2007), Joel Plaskett, Fashionable People (2007), Avett Brothers, Ain’t No Man (2016), and moderately rare Travis, Why Does It Always Rain On Me (1999) and Dizzy, Twist (2019). I love Dizzy by the way, quiet lately, hope they’re all doing alright, and can pay the rent.
But 11 AM and 1 PM are typical Indie hours.
Weekend Cafe and Electric Ballroom are still firmly Adult Alternative.
I like Brent and all the hosts still there. I hope they all thrive. Indie is still one of the most different and interesting commercial radio stations around.
