CKTB's Sunday Morning Question: Who Was Your Favourite Host?

I'm a big fan of CKTB's Sunday moring 6-9 AM show, which features a completely unscripted and often crazy three hours on just about anything, a lot of which is pretty irrelevant.

And so this weekend they veered off into the question: name your three favourite hosts. It could be TV news, game shows or someone on the radio. I thought it was a bit of a cheat when Karl Dockstader, who fronts the show, picked the CKTB morning crew - of which he was once a part. But he was also a huge fan of Strombo and former CKTB morning show host Tom McConnell, now working at CFPL-TV in London as its news director.

I was a bit disappointed he had no idea who Edward R. Murrow was, or why he was significant, but I guess he's from a much different generation. To his credit, he looked it up on air and realized his importance.

Other names suggested by staff and texters: Alex Trebek, Conan O'Brien, Wayne Brady, Johnny Carson, and David Letterman.

I was really surprised by one omission - no one mentioned John Michael, the late CKTB talk show host who helped put the station on the map (and on the CRTC's radar) during his years on air there.

Not sure who I would pick, but I was really fond of Craig Ferguson, whose late night CBS show was almost a satire of other big budgeted talk formats. There has never been anything quite like it on TV before or since. He'd certainly be one of my picks.
