Netflix To Debut First Live "Radio Show"

It starts June 1st and will be a streaming version of a popular syndicated U.S. radio show called "The Breakfast Club." It's not a show familiar to most Canadians, but they might have heard of the top host - a guy who calls himself Charlamagne Tha God. It's on over a hundred stations in America, but once the streamer picks it up, it will go worldwide.

So what happens when they throw to a commerical? You'll get an inside look at what goes on in a radio studio.

"Traditional radio commercial breaks will instead feature exclusive bonus segments, behind-the-scenes moments, and extended content."

And it will be live worldwide, despite being a morning radio show.

According to Charlamagne:

“Do y’all understand what ‘Live Globally’ really means? Mornings in New York. Daytime in the U.K. and Ghana. Evenings across other parts of the world.”

Re: Netflix To Debut First Live "Radio Show"

A marketing expert warns Netflix's move into daily live programming is a shot across the bow of traditional broadcasting. And station owners better understand what it all implies.

A pretty thought provoking opinion from Broadcast Dialogue.
