I've heard him do this before and it happened again on Wednesday morning. AM640's Greg Brady, whose show I generally enjoy, has a terrible habit of telling listeners he's going to play them a clip of something - in this case, it was from John Stewart.
Nothing wrong with that, but the set-up to the clip went on and on and on and on and on to the point I was screaming at the radio, "Just play the damn thing already!"
I've heard him do this before and I'm not sure why, but he gets so wrapped up in telling you every minute detail of what you're about to hear that your head explodes before he actually gets to it.
When the intro to the clip is longer than the clip itself, you're not doing it right.

Speaking of going to clips, one clip-related thing that is not a huge deal but annoys me on 1010 with John Moore is he'll often say "Nick, let's have clip #8" or "Let's play clip 34" or "And...clip 12". There must be a more elegant way to communicate with the technical staff than using an internal clip archive/soundboard number on-air. Sometimes not always enough fingers to hold them up that can be seen through the glass - and not sure typing it into a live chat is any more immediate.
Maybe have Moore touch a touchscreen to indicate or cue up which clip it is from the on-screen inventory, which can be seen in the control room, without actually launching it?

I don't hear Greg Brady that often but I agree. Heard him once take about 5 minutes of explanation and useless sidebar chit chat before he went to a clip that he was going to play. Really annoying and not necessary.
Enjoy Jon Gonzo on CKTB but he does the same thing from time to time.

Brad Smith tells a 4 minute long story about his CFL career, followed by a couple of minutes about his mental health and Senator father, then forgets the question.
