90 years ago - cross-border broadcasting

In 1936, Halifax, Nova Scotia hosted a gathering of American broadcasters for a meeting of the International Radio Club. The  30-minute program was broadcast on two now-defunct networks, the Canadian Radio Commission (forerunner of the CBC) and the Mutual Broadcasting System in the U.S.

It’s quite interesting, in light of current Canada-U.S. relations, to hear the expressions of joint solidarity between the Canadian and U.S. broadcasters. Much talk of the “unbreakable” bonds between the two countries and the phrase “Friends today, friends forever.”
