Interesting that they waited until after the CRTC allowed them to charge cable subscribers a small increase to keep them in business.

So they canceled their two live programs in the evening? I guess it's down to Senate committees around the clock.

What's troubling is within the last paragraph: “The CRTC’s recent approval of a 3-cent rate increase, set to take effect this September, is helpful in the short-term and comes at a time when financial pressures on our organization have intensified,” the organization said. “Subscriber erosion has nearly doubled since 2024. Delays in modernizing the broadcasting system have prolonged the uncertainty around when predictable, reliable, and stable long-term funding mechanisms will be in place.”
Troubling is not the 3 cent rate hike but the subscriber erosion that's doubled since 2024. CPAC is a mandatory, basic carriage service that all BDU subs pay for. So, this indicates that BDU's are seeing this heavy erosion in their subscriber base. I'm pretty sure that those signs you see in your neighbourhood offering "IPTV" with tons of channels for $7.99/mo. would not be from providers contributing to the Canadian broadcast system. Then of course, we have the cord-cutters, whose Netflix (et-al) subscriptions are not contributing to broadcast either.
So, kind of looks like the CRTC has to find another model to fund CPAC or it will fade to black. Maybe, allow advertising? The Ontario gov't always seems to have lots to say on the public airwaves, so perhaps they could become a major sponsor.

Speaking of Broadcastdialogue, back in Feb they had Christa Dickenson appear on an episode of their podcast and I found it interesting. Runs about 22 minutes:

Too bad Michael Serapio has been let go. It seems like he just got there but I see it was four years. I hope he lands on his feet, which he has done in the past! He and I were let go from CityNews the same day, with about most of the newsroom!

I will miss Prime Time Politics, I thought it was a good show. But there live event programing having English and French as part of the same show never really worked for me. I know they did this to save money, but for me I never liked it, also it seemed like English was the dominant language with French as an after thought.
I do like that fact that they air all press conference's but it does seem like the Doug Ford show most of the time.
As for funding I don't see why Rogers does not take it over and turn it into a National news network for there City News brand. They would need to take make a change and take in advertising.
