If you're a fan of the Fox TV show "Best Medicine" (simulcast by CTV), Tuesday night's episode contains an Easter Egg with some stunt casting.
For those who've never watched, the show is an American version of the long running British series "Doc Martin," about a renowned surgeon who develops a fear of blood, and has to move to a small town to get away from cases involving the substance. The title curmudgeonly doctor was played by an actor named Martin Clunes, while Josh Charles has taken on the same role in the American version. The original ran overseas from 2004 to 2022, a testimony to its popularity in Britain and shown on PBS in the States.
On Tuesday's episode, Clunes turns up as the main character's father in a kind of shout-out to the original series, even though many Americans probably aren't all that familiar with the English show.
Best Medicine, by the way, is a hit for Fox. Earlier this week, it was renewed for a second season.

Nice way to tip the hat.

Actually, CTV hasn't been simulcasting Best Medicine. They run it at 7pm on Tuesday, and Fox at 8pm.
