Today's women's gold medal game was carried live. It was a simulcast of the TV audio, During commercials they had two people discussing the game until play resumed. They will be carrying the men's hockey semi-final and I believe it will be the same format.

I listened to the Canada - Finland game yesterday while doing auto parts deliveries around the Greater Sudbury Area. Unfortunately, I missed the winning goal by Nathan Mckinnon while doing a delivery in Val Caron. By the time I got back in the car, they were already signing off, the announcer only said Canada would be in the gold medal game, didn't give the final score or who got the goal. I had to look it up on my phone.

This actually surprised me! On Thursday I wondered if the women’s gold medal was on either of the GTA sports radio stations, 590 & 1050, and neither were carrying it. I then flipped to Radio One and there it was. I think that since CBC, Rogers and Bell are covering the Winter Olympics, they should all have radio coverage as well as TV, but I imagine there’s some red tape involved!

A TSN executive told me they did not have the rights for these games as far as radio is concerned.

They also did it on Monday afternoon. I assumed holiday programming.

I am listening to the game on CBC radio in my car. CBC has done well with this. Rogers and Bell don't have the national radio network that CBC radio 1 has, so I can see why they made the decision's that they did.
I don't understand how my car radio gets the information on what is on the radio, but someone forgot to change the listings to say they are airing a Hockey game. They have been listing the regular programs on my screen including the National News.
