Toronto Institution Steve's Music Store To Close After 60 Yrs.

It's been one of the mainstays of the old Queen St. W., dating back to before the days CityTV moved nearby.

Toronto institution Steve's Music Store is closing all of its stores, including the one on Queen. The chain, located in various cities like Montreal, will operate as an online entity instead.

It brings to an end one of the city's most cherished institutions for musicians and those who just wanted to get up close and personal with instruments.

After 6 decades, Steve's Music to close most locations in Ontario, Quebec

Re: Toronto Institution Steve's Music Store To Close After 60 Yrs.

Too bad. When I worked at Citytv, Steve’s was a regularly visited store for me, as we were just down the street from them. I spent many hours and dollars in that store, and most of what I bought there, I still have. My last purchase was a digitizing turntable, which I still use, and my Strat and Morley wah-wah still get a work out!

Since leaving Citytv, I haven’t been to Steve’s in a while, but will reflect fondly on the years it was around. Now Long & McQuade is the only music store downtown Toronto, I think!
