The show on TSN 1050 has been going strong for 13 years and shows no sign of wearing out its welcome. How have they done it? The story below attempts to explain how the trio that hosts the afternoon drive program keeps scoring with listeners.

For years I have heard about this show and have only caught maybe 2 minutes of it. I do have friends who listen to it during their commute but 2 hours of sports radio would be too much for me, although my buddies like it…..!

It surprised me a bit last fall when the show was trimmed from 3 hours to 2
I do tune in once in a while but not often and then ususally not for very long
Is the show overrun with gambling ads and references as I suspect?
And doesn't the author of the Star article posted by RA, Jonah Sigel appear as a guest on the show when asked?
The answer to my second question at least is yes & so I wonder if we can expect fair & balanced information from him on the programs "state of affairs"?
The answer to that question is most likely a resounding no
Perhaps the story should be considered no more than a puff piece?

You're thinking of Jonas Siegel, not Jonah Sigel.

Along those lines, the producer can have a large influence over the hosts and content. The afternoon drive time sports show on Buffalo's WGR-AM was a funny and creative listen when Greg Bauch was producer years ago.

Hey, look. An actual entertaining non-sports bit on a sports station, the way it's supposed to work.
Sports radio works when it's personality-driven and sports-oriented. The Toronto stations, especially 590, have become way too dry and in the weeds. They're like if a Rock station spent every break deconstructing every song played in the last set. You get a few happy nerds and a disinterested everyone else.
I'm not a big sports fan, but I used to like sports radio. Now I never listen.
