Could This Be The Answer To Some AM Station Woes?

If the land the antenna sits on is worth more than the station, sell it - and try this new rooftop AM tower that can help some more low powered radio outlets. It won't work for the big guys, but it may help those just getting by, who could use an infusion of real estate cash.

Too late for CHML, but if CHIN wants 900, it just so happens that 900 AM is the recommended starting point for this exact antenna...

But CHIN's old 1540 signal was 50K day (less at night) and I can't see them wanting anything less for whatever replacement they come up with.

I don't think they can afford to do that

They don't have a choice

Re: Could This Be The Answer To Some AM Station Woes?

The interim specifications for this antenna (they are still testing) are somewhat optimistic, especially as it pertains to the RF bandwidth, and radiation efficiency versus frequency.
 specifications
Other versions of their antennas do not maximize the signal at the horizontal.  The beam tilts upward, resulting in a significant reduction of the groundwave.  There is no free ride, and the laws of physics prevail.
The CHIN 900 application is predicated on the Canadian-made Valcom, which is well proven and robust. There are five in use in the GTA.

I wonder how much one of these goes for, any idea RA? (Radio Caroline on my mind, kidding, just curious).

No indication of price on their website, although I'm sure it's not cheap. Less than a full power set-up, of course, but still probably beyond most of us. You can find out more about it here.

Thanks RA, you’re right, probably beyond most of us, plus you need the space for it, but something I have often daydreamed about!
