T.O.'s 1st FM, A Fire At CHUM - Why 1946 Was An Amazing Yr. For Radio

I came across a number of articles dated 1946 that were simply amazing. One deals with the first "experimental" FM stations in Toronto and who got them, back when that band wasn't even a factor.

Another explains where CBC's first FM station was located on the dial - and surprise, it's a now very familiar position.

And a third details how much Canadians were paying to fund the CBC back in '46. I'm guessing $2.50 was a lot more back then than it is now.

Oh, and then there was that fateful day when CHUM almost burned down.
