A Technical Question

Our Shaw satellite receiver has been out for more than 48 hours because the dish is encrusted with a thick layer of ice from Friday's ice storm. But it says on the screen we can access PPV programs. How is that possible?

Re: A Technical Question

It’s not.

I mean, you *can* order one, but you’re not going to see it.

So, under normal coditions, if someone clicks on the program they wish to order, how is that order conveyed to Shaw?

Re: A Technical Question

The Shaw receiver doesn't connect to a  phone line. Surely it couldn't transmit to order through the air from the dish?

Re: A Technical Question

Correct it dos not. It may communicate the rough a cell-phone network (you don’t have to have one). If not, then you can’t order from the remote and you’d have to call to order.
