I was listening to CFRB's Trivia Show on Sunday and I can't recall ever hearing so many phone issues. The lines are either noisy, the caller is lost or hangs up or the host can't keep track of who is on what line. This Sunday's episode was a particular mess, with the host unable to always hear (or even find) the caller, the caller not hearing the host and sometimes both.
They don't seem to have these problems during the week. And while I admit there's a lot going on during this show, there's not enough to cause so much trouble. It sounds chaotic. (And somewhat ironic, since owner Bell started life as a phone company.)
What is going on with this show?

Sounds like fill-in op

I agree with you RadioActive, the phone situation was particularly bad today on Sunday Morning Trivia and no real reason why! It isn’t usually like that though, hopefully it doesn’t happen again next week!

I rarely listen to this show but had it on in the background today and was also surprised at the amount of phone issues. Seemed that Agnew was doing some of it himself; he would mutter about putting someone on hold so their information could be collected vs. dropping them and said things like "I pressed the wrong button" or "Let me try this..." But at other times he seemed to be talking to a board op ("please add their name to the line now, if you could...").
I would agree with RadioAaron that it's probably fill-in board op talent and this show would benefit probably the most from a regular where the rhythm and flow with Agnew is down pat. Plus, probably one of the more complex shows to board op out of 1010's roster, given two callers have to be both active at the same time (with the back-and-forth questions), others queued up, keeping them around to collect information for prizes, etc.

The Gentner they use is 40 years old. It hasn't been serviced since 2002.
