A group of retired industry people assembled early this week, as happens each December, on Queen West, for Chinese food and nostalgia. A question arose whether any one has seen the annual post in SOWNY by founder Mr. D. Paterson listing locals who went to their final reward in the year about to end. The unanimous response was "No, but I miss it already". Anyone have a better answer?

I'm sure we will all miss Oakley's exasperated sighs. The ones where reality overtook his lightweight world view.
Years back, when Rod Ford ran Toronto, they were holding televised deliberations on what city functions to eliminate, similar things occurred when they found out that the libraries lent out DVDs. Shocked outrage on the faces of Rob's friends who could not comprehend the fact the the poors had such city-provided benefits.
Whenever I reflected on this I inevitably tied it to John Oakley. Rob was his Alpha and Omega.

This isn't from Dale, but it might suffice.

Maybe Mr Patterson is waiting for the year to actually end, and is busy compiling the list while waiting for the clock to wind down ? ![]()

That "broadcasters we lost" post lists Don Andrews who is remembered by many in SOWNY land as being an ex-AM-740 personality before he relocated to Alberta,
The photo provided with post #3 is of an entirely different person

The list provided by Broadcast Dialogue is so thorough I no longer feel a need to provide a list.

To this list, I'd like to add
- WMCA legend Gary "Wooleyburger" Stephens, who died February 17 at age 84.
- Wink Martindale, game show host and Los Angeles radio personality, who we lost April 15 at age 91.
- Pat Bryan, who helped found CFNW (Northumberland 89.7) and was a long-time board member and program host there, on May 11.
- San Diego legend Chuck Cooper, who left us in June at 84.
- Jacques Salvail, of Quebec radio fame, at age 79 on July 13.
- Long-time WOWO personality Ron Gregory, who died August 22 at age 77.
- Don Passerby, one of the 1440 CFOX "Country Gentlemen" in the '60s, died at age 86 on August 25.
- And last but certainly not least, Buffalo and Washington, D.C., legend Harv Moore who died December 21 at age 90.

Great adds, Dale. They were all worthy of mention.
