An Amazing Collection Of Buffalo Radio & TV Artifacts Online

Martin Biniasz is not a major household name, even in Buffalo, where he’s toiled in broadcasting most of his career. But he’s put together some astounding memorabilia from radio and TV in that city and a lot of it is displayed online.

He’s also the author of a book called “Buffalo Radio,” which tells the story behind stations like WGR and WKBW, along with many of the legendary personalities who worked there, including Hound Dog Lorenz, John Otto, Joey Reynolds, Clint Buelhman and countless names that left the Queen City to become even more famous, including Jack Paar and Foster Brooks.

He has a ton of pictures and memories on his Buffalo Broadcasting site, including promotional items, vintage mics from stations across the U.S., and stuff you never knew existed. It’s quite a remarkable collection and you can see a lot of it free online.

Here are a few of my favourites:

A WBNY Chart from 1958

A poster for a Hound Dog Lorenz concert in 1955

And perhaps my favourite, a Channel 7 Eyewitness News Board game. I have no idea how you played the thing, but my guess would be whoever turns up at the fire in Cheektowaga first, wins.

My thanks to Mr. Biniasz for letting me display some of these items here. You can see what other incredible artifacts he’s put on the web at this link.

Love the board game which must be from the late 70s as the Love Canal story is mentioned. Looks like an amazing collection!
