The lamp for my receiver's S Meter was burnt out. It's just a tiny 12V lamp. I could get a replacement from Palstar for $15 US plus shipping. But they only last a couple of years, then burn out.
In Dollarama, I got a string of LED Christmas lights for $2. I just cut off one of the LEDs and used it to replace the lamp. I had to place a 470 Ω resistor in series to limit the current.
It's a little brighter than I wanted, but it's better than no light at all.

If it's stupid but it works, it is no longer stupid.

I like that! I will remember it.

And now you have 19 spare LED bulbs for future fixes! Very resourceful turkeytop, if you increased the resistor’s value that would dim your bulb a bit, right?

Very nice receiver and a practical fix too. Well done.
