Did you know that iHeart evening host Shane Hewitt, heard locally on CFRB and CKTB, isn’t just a radio guy? He has three businesses that run separately from his on air work – although some are related.
One is called “Executive Media,” It’s based in Calgary and takes on a limited number of clients, for help with brand development and digital media. “We created the CJAY 92 Rocks brand and developed the music and identity for Vibe 98.5, expanding our services to include advertising design, apparel branding, and media consulting,” the website explains.
Similar to that one is another side gig called “Launch Pod” which offers help to those looking to create an effective podcast “from concept development and audio production to distribution and marketing,” its site vows.
The fact he’d be behind two media related businesses isn’t really a surprise. But perhaps his third enterprise is. It’s called the “Banff Beard Company” and offers products like beard oil and beard care products for men. Now that one I didn’t expect, especially since Hewitt is clean shaven.
He rarely talks about these efforts on air, but earlier this week, I heard him mention that he had three different businesses he ran separately from his show, and it didn’t take long to find them.
Hewitt, who hosts the Night Shift over iHeart in Canada and is on multiple stations across the country, also has an interesting radio resume, including stops at HTZ-FM in St. Catharines and Country 104 in London (as “Zack” Hewitt) and a year spent in Toronto under that moniker at CFNY in 2019. Listeners here may recall his live “Night Shift” graveyard show from out west on the Corus Radio Network (including AM640 here) before the station went to all night rerolls.
