The sales team at a radio station not far from me has begun pitching sponsored public service announcements regarding Remembrance Day. Being the grandson of a WWII RCAF veteran, I don't think it looks good on said station and its management to make money off of such an important and somber day. Frankly, selling sponsored PSAs re November 11th comes across as just plain disrespectful to our veterans and fallen. After all, had it not been for their service and their sacrifices, this radio station and others likely wouldn't be on the air today.
At the very least, pause for two minutes of silence at exactly 11am on the 11th, and maybe include The Last Post etc. Donate airtime and web/social space to the Legion free of charge. But please, don't try to profit from Remembrance Day. This day is for our veterans and all who served, as well as their families - not for you to make money off of it.

By definition PSAs should not have revenue attached to them.
I'm with you, Remembrance Day is not the day for earning.

My grandfather (WW1) and father (WW2) were both veterans. I too find this disrespectful.

It would be totally poor form for a radio station to profit from Remembrance Day sponsorships and should not even consider it unless they want some terrible PR. We could all have been goose stepping!!

It allows the companies to 'write off' their sponsorship announcement (uh advertising).
