Those who pursue DX as a hobby are all too familiar with how crowded the airwaves are now and how electrical interference plays a factor in what you can and can't hear.
Now imagine owning one of the first radio sets back in the 1920s and tuning around to see what you could get when there were fewer stations and a lot less noise.
This story is from a local Montana newspaper, and it recounts how a DXer was amazed to discover his grandmother was into the hobby way back in 1929. Not only that, she kept careful logs of the stations she snagged, some of which are long since gone and others that have changed call letters and even dial positions over the years.
It truly is a blast from the past and it proves the hobby has been around a lot longer than some of us ever knew.
