One DJ Pays Tribute to A 100-Yr.-Old Radio Legend On His Weekly Show

This thread admittely won't be for everyone. But those who know the name "Art Laboe" may want to know this.

Laboe was a legendary L.A. disc jockey in the early days of rock and roll who was on the air for an incredible 79 years, an amazing part of broadcasting history. He's also credited by many with inventing the dedication, playing records in honour of someone by giving their names on air. It's now common, but back in those early days, no one else had thought of it.

Laboe would have been 100 years old this year. He died in 2022. But his voice and his work lives on.

This story from the L.A. Times tells the story of a DJ who is keeping that memory alive and how popular his show has become with a growing number of fans, who like both the oldies he plays and the memory of the man he's keeping alive.

He DJ’d radio for 79 years. The late Art Laboe’s fans are still tuning in
