Give It A Rest
The current Jays radio play-by-play team of Madison Shipman and Eric Smith thankfully is only temporary. Their constant dialogue, much of which has no connection to the game, is unnecessary and annoying. Madison Shipman’s ongoing repetition of Smith’s commentary only displays her lack of originality and is superfluous. Smith should stick to his basketball radio gig. Where are Ben Shulman and Chris Leroux when you need them?

Totally agree with you. I've been listening to Smith during his occasional appearances and while he may be great covering the Raptors (I have no idea - never heard him do it) his work on calling baseball is awful. He can make an exciting play seem dull and half the time, I'm not even sure what's going on. A strike out call, for example, could be as bland a statement as "And he sits down Vladdy."
Who calls a game that way?

Madison should stick to TV where she doesn’t have to comment on the game while it is being played. Her strength is more in her analysis, usually at the end of the game. I listened to them for a couple of minutes yesterday and they tend to drift off topic, i.e. the game!
