The old grey mare, she ain't what she used to be, but there's still some life in the medium yet.
Wednesday, Aug. 20th, is National Radio Day, 24 hours to celebrate audio broadcasting as we know it.
The story of how this came to be and the history of the medium can be found at the link below. But I think it's really interesting that they credit WWJ Detroit as the first real station - not the more traditional KDKA in Pittsburgh. (Actually, a case could be made for XWA, later the now defunct CFCF Montreal in 1919, but that never seems to get any credit.)

Indeed . It followed the Canadian DAB celebration which was about 12 seconds between 11:47 and 11:48.
