Remember all those arguments when you were a kid about which show to watch? Chances are if you were the youngest like me, your brothers always won the battle for control of the single set and you missed your show.
There was a chance you could have avoided those squabbles in those pre-DVR/VCR days. Turns out now defunct set maker turned broadcaster DuMont made a dual TV screen made to solve such problems. Incredibly, it was first created way back in 1945! The description of how this thing worked (including how it handled audio for two shows at once) is awkward but amazing.
I'd never heard of this before but it's incredible to think this thing existed for a while, especially at a time when there was barely one TV station per market, let alone two to cause any fights.
