Bizarre Radio Tower Stand-Off Ends In Washington, D.C.

I'm almost surprised this doesn't happen more often. On Tuesday, a distressed man climbed the transmitting tower of two Washington, D.C. radio stations - including all-news WTOP.

Police were called, but he refused to come down and despite best efforts, the guy stayed up there on one of the platforms for more than four days. Both stations were forced to transmit from back-up facilities, as the drama went on and on and on.

The stand-off finally ended, probably in the only way it could on Friday - the man jumped off the tower to his death, although authorities may never know why he did it.
