I’m probably the only one here who ever bothers tuning into Sauga960 just to see what they’re up to. On the weekend, I was scanning the dial and came across the Greg Carrasco Show, clearly paid time on the station. It runs on the weekends at 9 AM, and frankly, I can’t figure out what the point of it is.
On Sunday I heard them do a liner intro back into the show from a commercial break and I couldn’t believe it. I have no idea where they got it, but it must be very old because they would never be able to obtain access today.
It’s an ID by none other than Donald Trump that appears to have been made long before he entered politics (AKA the good old days.) He says something like this:
“Hi, this is Donald J. Trump. I was in “Home Alone II and had the biggest part in the movie. And you’re listening to the Greg Carrasco Show.”
Again, at the time, this must have seemed like a real “get” and I have no idea how they convinced Trump to do it.
But given everything that’s happened between the Orange Ogre and Canada, would I really want my show to be associated with him? I believe Carrasco is a Trump supporter, but that doesn’t mean everyone listening to his show is.
And as a guy who constantly tubthumps for his auto dealership on his show, I can’t help but wonder if he’s not chasing his own potential customers away, ala Elon Musk.
I’d certainly think twice about running that every weekend right now.

I listen to Carrasco semi regularly and although he is a conservative supporter, I have only heard him spout anti Trump rhetoric. As the owner of a car dealership with his partners, his business is highly affected by the tariffs imposed by the current U.S. administration. I have never heard the Trump id your speaking of, so it is likely a put together one via editing, or perhaps an AI creation. He has the right to air whatever he chooses in my opinion as he pays for the time . I suggest you call him at the Nissan dealership and ask him why he chose that one . He will take your call and discuss it with you I believe. Or better yet, call him on air next Saturday. I do imagine your criticism is just to create a discussion on the board so grain of salt taken.

I'm doubtful it was a real "get" and assuming it's an AI voice generator.

No, it's the real thing from back when Home Alone II was in theatres. That places it around 1992, long before even The Apprentice. So he might have done stuff like that back then. Today, he'd charge you a million dollars.

So ... do you think RA is making this up ??? I only question it, because I would find that an odd choice too, unless it was some sort of satire or the like.

I've heard it a few times. I'm 100% sure it's the real thing. But it was a product of its time, long before the monster in the White House emerged.

Well, that's more or less what I thought. I don't understand why mic'em thought your intentions were suspect.

Greg Carrasco has not been doing radio for 33 years. The math just doesn't line up for me. Again, I'm assuming it is an AI voice generator, and if so, I can't fathom why they'd pick "Home Alone 2" as the Troy McClure-esque benchmark.
If it's legit, "The Apprentice" would have been much more relevant when Greg started up at 640 in the mid-2000s.

So I managed to find it on one of his podcasts. (Fortunately, I didn't have to listen to the whole show - it was close to the beginning!) Decide for yourself if it's real or AI.

Could it be an impersonator? The audio quality isn't helping me either way lol. And I do wonder how an AI would pronounce "Carrasco", but this clip nails it, which is what put the impersonator thought in my head.
Greg's own website states the show has been on for 17+ years. The website also claims he's "one of the most influential thought leaders". I only believe one of the previous two sentences.

Yeah - this reminds me of the type of liner/intro that's recorded when some celebrity impressionist is in town for whatever reason and his PR firm (or himself, lol) books him on a few media outlets - maybe Greg's show? - and they record these and continue to run it occasionally for months or years after the fact, by that time losing all context or connection with the origin appearance or who the impersonator was.
No idea why "Home Alone 2" would be the high benchmark, unless this was done in the holiday season and Greg rhapsodized it was a favorite movie or something. Also perhaps the only theatrical appearance/cameo. Seems like the kind of 10 second movie appearance (which I believe it was) an impersonator would drench in satire by making his caricature of Trump boast about it.

My guess is his producer or somebody similar may have created it for him. Jody, I don't suspect anything, merely adding fodder to the discussion on the topic. It's RA's job as moderator to keep the forum active, and he does a terrific job doing so. I do know Carrasco is very approachable , I have met him and have a Slacker Nation tee shirt . He is also now doing a Christian based call in show on Sauga 960 following his regular broadcast. I am somewhat disappointed that his shows have diverted away cars and into other topics that don't interest me as much. Hence why I am a semi regular listener now.

His religion show is called "Holy Shift," certainly a provocative name given the subject matter. Not my cup of tea, but you can't say Carrasco isn't expanding his radio horizons.
