When local news reporters really matter

Sometimes a sad story comes along that really touches your heart. The link above also shows the importance of having local reporters who live in the local community available to report on stories 7 days a week.

Coverage of stories like this can't be easy on the people who covers it, especially if you also live in the same community, having you kids going to the same school or a near by school.
There are times when losing a little bit of money is worth the cost of doing business.  In my opinion this is one of them.

Re: When local news reporters really matter

Hear hear! Absolutely devastating for a town that hit national headlines 25 years ago for its water tragedy/scandal. Good on CKNX, and other stations in the region, to have newsies on duty or at least on standby every day, should something as tragic as this happen. I remember the August 2011 tornado that tore through Goderich, and one of our reporters out of Exeter was on the scene right away, getting photos and sound bites and getting those online and on-air as quickly as he could. This was a few years before AlertReady went live, so there wasn't much for early warning.
