What Was With The Horse & Covered Wagon Of CKCO-TV?

I came across these old ads from CKCO-TV in Kitchener and I'd long forgotten that weird covered wagon in their logo. To paraphrase Jerry Seinfeld, "What's the deal with those wagons?" I recall they used them for years. Was it part of the Electrohome logo, a former owner of the station?

Acknowledgement of the area's concentration of Mennonites?

I believe that's it. I found this February 2004 article and one photo caption reads "CKCO jackets once bore this patch, which included the Electrohome logo and paid tribute to the area's Mennonite heritage with a Conestoga wagon."

Correct, the Conestoga Wagon is a nod to the Mennonites and Amish who settled in Waterloo Region and SW Ontario in the late 1700's and into the early 1900's.  Many came from Pennsylvania and this was their form of transportation especially for long distances.

Next thing you know they'll be naming some institute of higher learning after the horse and covered wagon, just mark my words.
