The Conservatives haven't won this seat since 2011. Good luck to him.

Given that I had to unfollow him a few months ago this is hardly a surprise I guess. I wonder if he'll unblock all the people he's blocked over the years.
Anyways, best of luck to whoever defeats him.

I assume this is a leave of absence and he'll be back if he loses.
So are there any hosts at 640 or 1010 who aren't Tories? A bit strange that programmers in the most liberal city in the country think the way to ratings success is to have wall-to-wall Conservatives on the air on weekdays. Talk radio in BC at least has managed over the years to have a few former NDP politicians as hosts.

I don't think anyone would accuse John Moore of being a Conservative.

He'd have to be accused of being a radio host first!
All kidding aside, the only non-right-leaning hosts (aside from Moore) I can think of would be Kelly Cutrara, Dani Stover, and maybe Jim Richards and Shane Hewitt? I haven't listened enough to Richards or Hewitt to determine, they generally stay away from that stuff from what I have heard.
Conversely, does CBC1 have any right-leaning hosts?
Rex Murphy was one of CBC's highest profile hosts.
How many open NDPers are there at 640 or 1010? It seems to all be conservatives with a few moderate fence-sitters.

Oakley had Greg Brady on as a guest Tuesday and I was a bit startled to hear him say he hasn't actually secured the nomination for the Conservatives yet.
Why would he give up a full time high profile gig when he's not even assured of being the candidate? I'm guessing he must have had some reassurance that it's his if he wants it, otherwise why abandon a 3-decade broadcasting career to take that chance?

He might not have a choice. Corus may have a policy requiring on air staff who are candidates for office, including candidates for party nominations, to take a leave of absence.
As for the risk, he hasn't quit the job, he's just on a leave of absence. If he loses the nomination it'll be a short leave of absence, that's all - though I don't see how Corus could put a failed nomination candidate on the air until after the election since anything he says on the air about the election campaign is going to result in accusations of bias.

"High profile" is a bit of a stretch.

My morning routine usually means I didn't have the opportunity to listen to Greg Brady often but I've never known him to speak with the vitriol of Ben or Alex when it comes to non conservatives. He seems to be more balanced.

I'd have to agree. Not only would the average Torontonian not know who Greg is, the average person working in Toronto radio wouldn't even know who he is.

Well maybe. But don't forget he spent nine years on the Fan590 as well as the years at 640.
One of the hallmarks of politics is name recognition. So even if a few hundred or thousand voters in his riding are familiar with the name, it could make a difference.
That's opposed to someone you never heard of trying to get your attention. My argument is his being on the radio all those years is a slight advantage. Doesn't mean he'll win. But it couldn't hurt.
That said, I was surprised this story didn't get more newspaper coverage. As far as I can tell, only the Toronto Sun gave it any space at all. And even then, it was only because of former BT host Kevin Frankish's return.
Kevin Frankish aims to give 'BT' some 'competition' with new morning gig on Toronto's AM 640

Honestly, more people are going to think he's the eldest son from the Brady Bunch than recognize him from the radio.

Well, I guess that's still a form of name recognition! Even if it's the wrong name!

He'd better hope the Liberals don't run a candidate named Keith Partridge.

Or Johnny Bravo - then people would get really confused. "Is he Greg or is he Johnny? Which one are we getting?"

Dean Blundell, no stranger to controversy he, posted this to social media: "A lot of DMs from people who worked with Greg Brady who are ready to talk about what a nefarious(jerk)he is. Including family. If anyone in the Liberal party wants details, happy to help. He's human garbage."
I had to clean it up a bit and leave out the last paragraph, for reasons of good taste. But safe to say, Dean's not a fan of Greg.

What a class act. Thank you, Dean, for reminding us why you cannot hold steady employment. Maybe Dean should spend much less time taking shots at a radio professional like Greg Brady and more time worrying about resuscitating his own failed career. Last I checked, talking trash does not keep you relevant in the industry. That said, Dean is as irrelevant as they come with respect to the media, so this is consistent with his presence, maturity and ability.

Agreed. People need to stop giving this grifter any further attention. What a disgrace the Liberals have become...

How are the Liberals responsible for Blundell's rants?

Dean is totally washed up. Surprised he's able to access social media from CAMH

Well, it's finally officially. Greg Brady is the Conservative candidate for the riding of Ajax. At the time he left AM640, he didn't have the nomination confirmed.
But we also know who his high profile Liberal competition will be - it's Jennifer McKelvie, who has taken a leave of absence herself as a Toronto city councillor. She's been deputy mayor under two leaders since 2022 and had been representing Scarborough.
Should be an interesting race.

With Brady and super-popular former CFRB asset Jamil Jivani in Durham, East-end GTA conservatism is bursting at the seams with broadcasting talent!

Longtime Conservative MP Jamie Schmale in the nearby Haliburton--Kawartha Lakes--Brock riding was a former newscaster on CKLY radio in Lindsay and Conservative MP Michelle Ferreri in the nearby Peterborough riding was a former news reporter with CHEX-TV in Peterborough, though she had later crossed over to the dark side to become an online mommy blogger.

So a Toronto city councilor is running in Ajax?? Where does she live???

I think it might be Scarborough, but she definitely does not live in the riding, which could work against her.

Brian Lilley talks to AM640 host-turned-political candidate Greg Brady about his hopes for the coming election and leaving radio - at least for now. No small irony that Lilley subs on CFRB while Brady was on rival 640. This piece was done for the Toronto Sun, which I guess is considered neutral ground!

Well good on Greg for getting the attention of the Conservative Party's court stenographer, Brian Lilley. Of course had Brady been running as a Liberal, Lilley wouldn't have done an interview
