Ottawa Valley broadcaster Jamie Bramburger has passed

Shocked to hear that long-time Renfrew County broadcaster and academic Jamie Bramburger died unexpectedly today. Bramburger spent many years in the newsroom at Pembroke's CHRO/CHVR Radio and CHRO-TV/The New RO, and most recently was calling Pembroke Lumber Kings Junior A hockey games on Cogeco's YourTV, as well as hosting several programs on the local cable channel; he was also a prominent figure at Algonquin College's waterfront campus in Pembroke, and not that long ago released a book about the Almonte Train Wreck of December 1942.

Jamie & I had crossed paths a few times in recent years when attending Lumber Kings home games at the historic Pembroke Memorial Centre, and a couple of years ago, as part of the Labour Market Group of Renfrew & Lanark Counties, he had invited me, as a person with a disability, to be part of a panel discussion on underrepresented groups in the area workforce.

It's not goodbye, it's just good night, Jamie.
