I've been listening to Vassy's show on 1010 and there must be something wrong with the volume as I can hardly hear the conversation. Initially I thought I may be going deaf but I switched to other stations and they were fine. Significant technical issue at 1010.

I heard this, too. And it's not just CFRB, which at least is still there.
Far more baffling is the fate of CKTB, also simulcasting Vassy's show. Its 610 signal disappeared altogether and all I can hear in the GTA is static. Are they off the air?
It's very odd that these stations, both broadcasting the same show, have technical issues at the exact same time.
Hopefully, this is only temporary and both will be back to normal soon.

Now 1010's volume is going up and down for me

Could this not be us witnessing the moments when CKTB is switching to "Neeti-based" programming, rather that Bell network programming?

Unlikely, since they were simulcasting Jerry Agar just an hour or so before. More likely weather related.
But it does clear the way for DX-ers to hear WHEN from Syracuse on 620. The one-time all-sports station now has an FM translator and bills itself as "Power 620, Central New York's Only R&B."

Last I checked 610 was going to WhiteOaks ownership.... Unless they have plans that I missed, they had intended to keep things as they are where they can. 610 has to be hard to relaunch with so much coming from Bell.
Whiteoaks history is owning religious, multi-cultural, and formally adult standards, but highly professional broadcaster.

Thank you. I should have remembered better and stand corrected.

They've promised to keep the talk format on 610, but of course that could change once the new owners get their hands on it officially. As of 4 PM, CKTB is still off air. But their web feed is working, so they're there, somewhere.
By the way, I tried to reach their switchboard and newsroom, to see if I could get an answer about what happened - they've been off at least 3 hours. I was greeted with a recording asking me to leave a message and they'd check them "within 48 hours."
Wow. Hope here are no emergencies or they'll never know about it until two days later. What a joke Bell Media is.

Listening to Shane Hewitt on CFRB while out walking the dog around 7:30 PM and sure enough, the station sound keeps going in and out, just like the original issue Stefanie first noticed in the afternoon. No word on what could possibly be causing it, and I have no idea how long it's been going on. But whatever it is, they haven't fixed it completely.
And in a strange irony, it happened at the best time. You may have heard that commercial where a guy talks about noise and then lets about 5 secs. of silence go by. Well, sure enough, that spot came on and the guy said "Here's something you rarely hear," followed by silence. At that exact moment, the signal went out and the phony silence was replaced with real silence! Incredible timing.
CKTB, by the way, is still off the air - now closing in on at least 7 hours.
[Update: Whatever it was appears to have resolved itself. But still no 610! Maybe a good DX opportunity on both 610 and 620. 600 suffers from too much Fan590 interference.]
