CNN Documentary Traces The Controversial History Of Twitter

I still remember the first time I ever heard the name "Twitter." It was being almost evangelically touted by Amber MacArthur, the noted Internet expert, who told me it was the next big thing. When I heard you were only allowed a certain number of characters, I thought it was incredibly stupid.

Boy was I wrong!

Now CNN is going to look back of the history of the world-changing social media site, in a four part documentary series called "Twitter: Breaking the Bird," that will air starting on March 9th.

"Through firsthand accounts from some of its original founders and early employees, this is the inside story of Twitter’s inception, explosive growth across the world, and the dark underbelly of online hate and harassment that emerged."

We all know what the thing has unfortunately become. But it's likely to be a fascinating retrospective about how we got here - and how it went so far off the rails.
