Cdns. Rush To Give Up "Made In U.S." - Except For Streaming Services

The recent rush to tariffs by the U.S. President has sparked a wave of patriotism in this country, ranging from booing American national anthems to trying to "Buy Canadian" at the grocery store.

Except, it seems, when it comes to rejecting U.S. streaming services like Netflix and Disney+.

The results come from a new Leger poll that asked Canadians about how they plan to express their displeasure with Trump's tariffs. Many admit they will give up travelling Stateside or eschew alcohol imported from south of the border. But cutting their streaming services is where many draw the line, with only 28% admitting they'd be willing to cancel their TV subscriptions.

One caveat - the poll was done online, questionnaires which are not considered as accurate as other surveys. But it does make you think - is Netflix still part of your daily or weekly routine? Would you be willing to give it up as a form of protest?

Many Canadians willing to ditch U.S. travel and alcohol but not streaming services

My 0% solution Amazon Prime gone - Disney gone - Paramount gone - good riddance
Holding on to CBC Gem (paid) and might add Britbox

28% saying that they would cancel Netflix or Disney is not insignificant either.  No company is going to want to lose over a quarter of their business.  And the US streamers aren't exactly swimming in profits for the most part, in fact most are still losing hundreds of millions.

I have never had Netflix or any US streamer so this doesn't matter to me.  Likely I wouldn't cancel just because it was a US service, and a lot of them are investing big money in Canada anyway.  So the only reason I would cancel any US service or Canadian for that matter would be if I wasn't watching them.

Things like travel I would be more likely to avoid the US.  Florida for example has become way too expensive and the sun is just as warm and pleasant in the Caribbean.  Bourban?  Yeechh!

I got rid of Netflix months ago.
Just not watching it.
It's all mainly standup comedy by mediocre comedians with mainly sex gross out humour.
Or documentaries about serial killers.
A woman I know dropped it because she felt there were an inordinate number of programs about violence against woman, (probably the aforementioned docs about serial killers.)
I do have Britbox Acorn and the great European streamer MHZ plus Topic.
