It appears we now know what's replacing Roy Green's national live radio show on Saturday and Sunday from 2-5 PM over Corus stations across the country - and while it's not surprising, it's pretty disappointing.
At 2 PM, 640 aired the best of Greg Brady. That was followed at 3 by an hour of Alex Pierson's show from Friday. And then listeners who stuck around got John Oakley's final show of the week repeated to them at 4 PM. all rerolls, taking the place of a live show that had been on the air in those time slots for the past 18 years.
I think this is what most of us were expecting but also were hoping would not happen. Last week, they did a live special on the possibility of U.S. tariffs hosted by Ben O'Hara-Byrne, but since he does a five-day-a-week show Monday-Friday, that wasn't going to happen again. I'm not sure what aired in other parts of the country, but I'm guessing replays were the order of the day there, too. After all, they don't cost anything.
So instead it looks like reruns are here to stay. Sad, but I would have been surprised to hear anything else. Weekend afternoons on the radio here just won't be the same now that Green is gone.

Very disappointing indeed.
But I guess if whatever programming they put on in weekend afternoons still attracts Spence Diamond ads and Food Basics blather... who cares?

Maybe there is a possibility the reruns aren't permanent. Rerolls won't bother me much since I rarely hear Brady, Pierson or Oakley. However those who listen to them through the week, won't be tuning in on weekends. Hasn't Brian Lilly been on AM640 in the past hosting? He does have a national profile since his articles run in the Sun/Post papers across the country. And it would keep him off 1010!

Lilley seems to have thrown his lot in with Bell. He will be filling in for Agar in a few weeks, when the usual occupant of the 10 AM slot has his knee operated on. It's not known how long he'll be gone.
But how about Anthony Furey? Yes, another Conservative voice, but at least a reporter who understands what a good story is. He's become a Corus regular fill-in and he'd fit the bill perfectly.

How about a duo ... perhaps Fiona and Callum are up to the challenge with the added bonus of Sara in guest appearances

When I found out Fiona was formerly a teacher in Scotland, the PTSD was real. Now, I wouldn't walk into one of those stores with a cattle prod at my back.

Corus should contact tarik fata if he's not retired.
He's what a real muslim is.
His show toght a lot about normal islam and also south-asian culture.
I hope they bring his show back to the airwaves.
If not corus, then chin should.

Bendixen is way too smart to leave the time slot without decent programming. Patience.

Your intel has been very good in the past. Hope he doesn't wait too long before everyone tunes out. Habits are hard to break but getting them back after they're gone may be even harder.
That said, he knew Roy was going for almost two months. Why wasn't something arranged in that time?

Another good idea for corus is maybe a call/text in advice show like dr. joy brown's show.

Sunday's menu consisted of a reroll of some Ben Mulroney interviews at 2, Ben O'Hara-Byrne at 3 and Alex Pierson at 4. Live programming, if it's coming, can't get here soon enough!

Here's a funny promo that they should use.
Sonday is benday! the 2 Bens for 2 HRs.
