It was originaly a political thread.
Our media is not as Devided as American media.
In The States, Its a choice between far left or far right.
If roopert leavs Fox news or as I call it, Fox talks, I think it would shift to centre right.
Its slowly going there with guy benson who did not defend trump's first debate with Kamala.
I think they both did a bad job.
Trump sounds like a dumb computer and kamala cant speak at all

Actually women can drive in most Islamic countries and could do so in the pre-Taliban Afghanistan which was a relatively progressive place. The ruling elite there I think are big hypocrites. All just for show.

Thanks.
I'm glad Sawdi Arabia changed its strict rules.
I'm sure ala is looking down at those foolish muslims and laughing.
Same with Jesus and those foolish socalled christians.

Exactly. Is it that difficult to stay on the topic of radio and TV without dragging your partisan politics into it? Apparently not.

See this is the thing.  While that MAY be true, I think it has been very cordial and considerate discourse.  There's lots of other topics that other threads veer off to, and we pay no mind to it.  Think about it: no one has really shot anyone down or has acted harshly.  Some are getting peeved for no other reason than it happens to be about politics or religion.  It's only made into such a big deal because these are normally hot-button topics.  But they don't have to be.  This thread has shown a sense of reason, cordiality and respect.  Relax and just let it happen.

Cheers,

Re: Editorial: This Scares The Hell Out Of Me & It's Only Just Starting

Well, I have to somewhat agree with splunge. I authored this post because I was worried about what might happen to news coverage if everyone bows obedience to the new leader, who does not like being fact checked.

I took the dog out for a long walk and have come back to a thread that's now about Gaza, Iran, Muslims and God knows what else. That was never my intention when I put this up and I think we have strayed far from what this board (and this topic) is supposed to be about. So just to save my sanity (what little I have left), I'm going to close this thread off.

I will think more carefully in future about what I post here, even though the original was simply about saving freedom of the press and not every Middle East war.

Funny how these things always spiral out of control. I take the blame for this one and for that I apologize. I should have known where it would end up, although even I didn't think it would be so far off the rails.

Forward Power is right - this is a radio and TV board. It's not about politics, unless the CRTC passes a new edict on CanCon or something similar. Then it's fair game. Otherwise there are a ton of places to go to talk about this, including every newspaper site.

I will continue to watch the U.S. news media with some alarm, and hope they can stick to their original mission despite intense pressure.

Until then, as the headline in this post suggests, this kind of progression scares the hell out of me!

Lesson learned.
