I was very sad to hear of Sam Moore's passing at 89. Sam Moore was one of my most favourite interviews. I actually interviewed him twice. Once at Lulu's in Kitchener and a few years later in LA. He was a fabulous interview, talking about working with STAX writers Dave Porter and Isaac Hayes, who wrote most of Sam & Dave's hits.

Sam Moore and Dave Prater were not friends for much of their career. Many, many disagreements and friction between them.

Sam's wife Joyce was his manager and she also granted me the final interview of Mary Well's life. Mary was in Ramparts Hospital in downtown LA and could only whisper as she'd had throat cancer. I was hesitant to do it, but Joyce said Mary really wanted to do the interview to thank her fans. It was a short (15 minutes) interview as I didn't want to tax Mar's strength.

My condolences to Joyce and their daughter and family. Sam Moore. Another musical legend gone.
