Linda Lavin Of "Alice" Fame Gone At 87

She actually has two new series still to be shown, including one on Netflix and the other on U.S.-only Hulu.

She was famous for her many Broadway performances. But she's probably best known to TV viewers as the main waitress in the CBS show "Alice," based on the movie "Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore." It ran for nine seasons.

She had only recently discovered she had lung cancer and though she was still active in Hollywood playing roles, it took her quickly at the age of 87.

She sang the theme song from her own show, just one of her many talents.

Stage West? Wow, I haven’t heard of them in years! I went once and Gary Burghoff was the star, can’t remember the play and he seemed cranky I recall, good times!

Burghoff was in a few - including "Tuesdays with Morrie."

The cast from the TV show M*A*S*H absolutely hated Gary Burghoff and were happy when he decided to leave the show. Amazing when you consider what a sympathetic character Radar O'Reilly was. Or as Hawkeye once called him "a puppy of a person."

From the 1983 TV Guide article about the historic finale, the highest rated TV show in history to that date.
