Change To Buffalo OTA Subcarrier Goes Almost Unnoticed

I’m not surprised those with antennas didn’t even notice a change to the Buffalo subcarrier TV line-up. But I have to admit I wondered what happened to this station.

It’s called “GetTV” and it shows the usual assortment of old reruns. It’s been up and running on WNYO, Channel 49.4, for several years. But recently I noticed that, while the signal was still there, the channel wasn’t.

The screen is black, although clearly there’s something there. It’s piggybacked off of WIVB-TV which means if that’s coming in, so should GetTV. But try as I might I couldn’t “Get TV.”

Still no explanation as to what happened to it on 49, but it’s since resurfaced on Channel 51.7, where the subcarrier “Newsy” used to run.

Not that there are a lot of shows on it I wanted to watch (see the schedule here and you’ll see what I mean), but it’s odd how these things seem to turn over without much notice. I’m curious if anyone with an antenna actually watches any of these stations – and how many even know they’re there.

Re: Change To Buffalo OTA Subcarrier Goes Almost Unnoticed

I watch some of the subcarrier channels, throw on an old western or comedy show now and then 51.3 and 51.4 I think?  49.3 Comet is sometimes good for an old Sci-Fi show.. 49.3
