My last 3 vehicles were all Chevy Equinox. AM radio reception was lousy. During the day, all I could get were the local stations here in London. I always blamed it on that little nub of an antenna on top of the roof.
Recently, I bought a new Mitsubishi vehicle. It has the same style of antenna but the AM is great. During the day I get good reception from 680 and 740 in toronto, 580 from Windsor and 920 from Wingham. Lots of others too, but I didn't pause my tuning long enough to get a positive ID.

Hey turkeytop, how do you like your Mitsubishi so far. I had never been in one before, but in the summer I took an Uber and cab that were both Mits SUV's and they rode very nice and quiet. Radio sounded good too but it was on FM.

Once I get over the guilt feelings from driving an import, it's a nice ride. My biggest complaint has been with the owners manual. It's really vague and in some instances, inaccurate. I found a feature today that isn't even mentioned in the manual, but I really appreciate it. The heated steering wheel.
And, of course, I like the radio. Too bad my old ears are no longer capable of appreciating good quality audio. I just listen to the music and let my memory fill in the blanks of how it used to sound.
