You might not know the name Alan Rachins off the top of your head, but you'll definitely remember him as the straight laced boss at the legal firm in all eight seasons of NBC's "L.A. Law." His character, Douglas Brackman Jr., was the strait-laced boss type who tried to keep the other more flamboyant attorneys in check, while keeping the place running.
He played a very different character on the ABC comedy "Dharma & Greg," as the hippie-ish father of the lead female character. That show ran for five seasons.
Rachins died Saturday of heart failure at the age of 82.
