Her name is Marie-Philippe Bouchard and she has her work cut out for her. The Quebec TV executive currently works for TV5 in La Belle Province but has toiled in the hallways of CBC in the past. The Corp. indicates she appears to be the choice to replace the controversial Catherine Tait, whose term ends in January.
Tait got into significant trouble with some, after she laid off hundreds of CBC employees and then gave executives there huge bonuses, sparking major outcries.
The newcomer won't exactly have it easy when she assumes the throne.
"Bouchard will take over the job at a time of eroding trust in the broadcaster among some Canadians.
Tait told CBC News last week that the company has work to do to rebuild trust among people who have become leery of the public broadcaster and its programming."
