Pickering College wants to be “voice of Aurora”

Nearly two years ago, a group of residents came forward with 101.5 CHRA, dubbed “Radio Aurora.” But, while Aurora waits patiently for the proposed radio station to hit the airwaves, Pickering College students are stepping up to the plate wanting to be that local voice. Last week, Sterling Mancuso, a Grade 12 student at the Newmarket private school, along with Grade 5 student Bryce Osinga came to Council seeking a community partnership which would make the school’s own community radio station, 102.7 CHOP-FM “the voice of Aurora.”http://www.newspapers-online.com/auroran/?p=16721

Really?  They could perhaps become A small voice in Aurora someday.  But the voice?  Doubtful that your average man, woman and child living in the area want THAT.  These folks want to 'play' at radio?  Set up a station at school and pipe it into the cafeteria and common areas.  Prove you have the will and the staying power and then try for a longer 'wire' and a bigger set of speakers.

In the article they say they are seeking a power increase. They will have to change frequency to do this, I would think. 101.5?

"The voice of Aurora"?  Will it be in Mandarin or Cantonese?
