Triskadekaphobia

Had to shake my head today listening to Amanda Galbraith as she filled in for Vassy on the noon hour radio broadcast. She was talking to her two guests about superstitions etc. with today being Friday the 13th.

Then, proud as punch she told her guests & by extension her listening audience that there is "actually a word" that describes people who are afraid of the number 13. Ms. Galbraith then haltingly spoke the word saying she hoped she could "get it right" & of course she completely managled each & every syllable. It was a train wreck.

I'll bet her two learned guests know what triskadekaphobia means but they remained silent. They just let her dangle. And I suspect the vast majority of her audience were surprised too.

How do you get to be approaching middle age, host a national radio program and have zero association with that word? I've always thought she was weak. IMO she's confirmed that yet again
