This doesn't happen often, but right in the middle of her political panel discussion on the iHeart network Thursday afternoon, Vassy Kapelos suddenly excused herself, turning the show over to one of her guests.
What happened? She had a scheduled interview with NDP leader Jagmeet Singh which was to air on her TV program. But it came right in the middle of her radio show and couldn't be changed. So she left the hosting duties to guest commentator Hannah Thibedeau, a former CBC-er turned flak, who took over in her absence for the rest of the segment.
She was back for the rest.
Not a big deal, but I'm not sure if I've ever heard that happen during a live radio show before.

Maybe she’s pregnant and had to leave the studio in a hurry. I might be misremembering, but when she took maternity leave from P&P I think she said that some days had been pretty rough for her.

No, she was pretty firm in that this was a scheduled interview with Singh and she couldn't change it.

And Singh is the newsmaker of the day so that interview takes all precedence. On the radio side, I'm surprised they didn't just replay a segment or something. Hannah does have the capability so it all worked out. Had that segment not included a former broadcaster, though...

I think they mentioned that was one of the reasons she was on that particular panel. Vassy's show is probably the best on CFRB, and I really enjoy her 1 PM panel segment.

Oh, I misunderstood (was trying to multitask, and failed at the reading task 😄). That makes sense, now that I read it again.
