August 15th 1970 What Was On The Top 40 With Tom Rivers
Here is the CHUM CHART from this date in 1970. Interesting mix of tunes and Toronto was getting ready for the opening of the CNE! A young looking Tom Rivers graces the cover.

I've put this one up before, but I love it because "Chum City" became the name of the combined company when Allan Waters bought City TV years later. (This is from 1967.) Kind of a weird coincidence.
Also note the spelling mistake in the ad, which happens frequently. It's "Princes' Gates," not "Princess Gates."

Nowadays one couldn’t get away from saying the 1050 CHUM Chicks. Too bad this world has become too politically correct.

Although the '60s were the times when you could call women 'chicks', this was CHUM's Promotion Director Allen Farrell's rhyming mindset. "CHUM Checks from the Ex", "CHUM Chicks", "Bucks For Yucks" etc.
Allen loved alliteration and puns. He named CHUM's country DJ Moose Latreck after French painter Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec.

A 4th semester class of Talk Radio with Tom Rivers was a highlight of radio school. What a guy.
