Gotta say I called this.
Call me a masochist, but I watched Donald Trump's speech in Montana (disastrous I might add).
One thing that bugged me was the crowd was made to wait while a giant screen played inspirational music videos by famous artists, from Elvis to ZZ Top.
But Canada's own Celine Dion??
To my amazement the Trump team played Celine's "My Heart will go on" video, which organizers clearly thought was a song to inspire Trumpists.
Boy I thought, I wonder if Celine will hear about this and complain?
Yep.
Today her management, including Sony Canada put out a message on X.telling the Trump organizers to stop using that video or any other by Celine to support Trump.
Also humourously, Sony Canada added "You chose THAT song?"
Obviously they were pointing out the movie "Titanic" was about a ship that sank after screwing up big time and hitting an ice berg.
So Celine now joins a line of pop stars who have told Trump to stop using their music.
Guess that still leaves Trump with Kid Rock, the Rapper Blow and Lee Greenwood.
Rock on!

Pretty sure the lawsuits are symbolic and meant to distance the artist from the politician/candidate. As long as the venue has paid its licensing fees there's not much that can be done.

Yeah, you're probably right because those videos were not actually being used to raise money. They were just being shown at a rally for background entertainment.
But I still think it's funny that the Trump people did not get the joke about the ship hitting an iceberg and sinking.

Thing is, that song makes no sense in any other context than a "Titanic" reference. Trump's team has made similar subversive song choices before. I don't understand this one, but I bet it's intentional.

...it's the team that came up with this, after all.

TRUMP: "Vote for me and I will sink America like the Titanic!"

American Internet sites are abuzz with the story about Celine's Titanic song being used by Trump team.
They all get a good laugh about Trump's people using the sinking of a ship in his political campaign.
I didn't think American media types would make much of this but they are.
