Yes, it's true. He plans to do an actual on stage set for a charity benefitting Mount Sinai Hospital. He'll do his first ever stand-up (and he says likely also his last!) at the Winter Garden Theatre on October 10th, and promises to put it up online so you can watch every painful moment.
This despite admitting he's anything but a comedian and cautioning anyone who watches the eventual performance not to expect much.
I've really enjoyed listening to him fill in on 640 these last few months (mostly recently, this week for Alex Pierson.) He's been a real find.
I had no idea he has a law degree, which may explain why he's so good at arguing with people with opposite views to his own. Or that he also appeared on the weekend edition of ABC's Good Morning America for a time or twice co-hosted with Kelly Ripa on her daily talk show. Who knew?
Anyway, good luck to him doing something most of us would never have the nerve to try.
I wanted to be a stand-up comedian but I like to work sitting down...
(If he's smart, he'll never use that last line!)

It seems it was his fate that led him to try stand up... which makes him a Karma Comedian.
