It's not often you hear criticism of your own station's programming on air but it happened on a reroll on CKTB Sunday morning. I've written before about the odd early weekend show on the St. Catharines station, which involves two guys essentially talking about nothing, but being pretty entertaining while doing it.
It's not something that will strain your brain, but when my dog woke me up early in the A.M. and I couldn't get back to sleep, I turned them on. At one point, host Karl Dockstader was talking about the shows that aren't on 610 anymore, lamenting the loss of one time morning show host Tom McConnell.
And then he referred to the local show that used to follow it, before it was replaced by "that right wing guy from Toronto," (alluding to Jerry Agar, of course.) It wasn't said in the nicest tone!
Even in reruns, it's an entertaining hour and if you're ever up early on a Sunday morning and looking for something different, the so-called "Secret Hour" (so called because they think management isn't listening so they can get away with anything) runs from 6-7 AM on CKTB, and you never know what you're going to hear.
I hope when the new owner eventually takes over, they keep these two around. One thing's for certain - that "right wing guy from Toronto" won't be there once the change finally takes place.

Speaking of surprises, it was nice to hear that Ben Mulroney was live on his weekend morning show on AM640 Sunday, despite the fact it's a long weekend. (Saturday's show was a Greg Brady reroll.) The audience may not be huge, but it's nice to know there's something new on the radio besides 680's news wheel and CFRB's less than satisfactory CP24 TV simulcast.
